When talking about Shopkeepers you can talk about two things:
- General Shop Keepers (Everyone with a shop)
- Shop Keeper (Npc's)

There are a total of 3 shopkeepers. Two in Falador and one in Varrock. They sell a variety of items. For example one of the two Shopkeepers in Falador sells scimitars and other Weapons while the other one sells more General items. The Shop Keeper in Varrock shares shops with the the General shop in Falador.
You can sell items to the Stores and they actually appear to other players. Just like in OSRS.
In the shop interface you can get the value of items by left clicking, and get an option to buy 1, 5 or 10 of the item. If you click the 10 you get the option to buy 10, 50 or 100 in the chatbox.
They were used to sell a ton of rare items varying from godswords to serpentine helmets and more during the beta to aid people in their pvp battles.
